Appreciation of art and culture starts at an early age in the South Shore. Throughout the year, TAP sponsors cultural performing arts in the schools that give children a chance to experience live, quality performing arts.
This is truly South Shore's cultural treasure. Nestled in the forest on the shores of Lake Tahoe, the Tallac Historic Site is comprised of three large summer estates - Pope, Baldwin and Valhalla - that were built and frequented by wealthy San Franciscans in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The 74-acre tract of land is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is located 3 miles north of South Lake Tahoe on Highway 89. In addition to the beautiful setting and meticulous preservation of the summer estates, the art and cultural events continue to attract locals and visitors year-round.
The Tahoe Tallac Association sponsors the Valhalla Summer Arts & Music Festival that includes a variety of events for adults and children lasting from late June into September: concerts ranging from Bluegrass to Jazz and Cajun music; art exhibits featuring the finest regional artists, and art workshops designed for children. A Cultural Arts Gift Store is located inside Valhalla
