Welcome to TahoeChamber.org, the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce website. As you peruse this website you will note that we still have some areas under construction. Of course, like any home you’re never done with the upgrades and revisions. So it is with TahoeChamber.org. Thus we welcome your ideas and input as we complete and continuously refine your website.
It is our goal that TahoeChamber.org will become an important resource for business owners, visitors and community members alike. For businesses we will begin to add reference materials, advertising opportunities, directories, specialized categories, links and a list of mentors available to counsel small businesses. We will continuously provide updated links and information to assist the visitor in planning their visit before and during their stay providing tips on services and links to businesses.
You will always be able to find information on community and chamber events on this site as well as links to various agencies in order to stay up to date on when those important meetings and events are taking place. As you will note in the Press Room we have begun to place recaps and updates of importance to this community and will continue to expand that portion of the site.
The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce is the result of countless discussions between business leaders on the South Shore over the past twenty years. Finally in late 2006 the merger was completed and we now have one 1000+ member strong chamber serving the entire South Shore business community!
As our mission indicates we are a membership organization dedicated to developing and promoting the business community with a goal of sustaining a high quality of life by achieving economic vitality, with sensitivity and respect for the environment. Much of this work will be accomplished by a dedicated Board of Directors and a growing number of members volunteering to tackle the issues by seeking strategies and solutions. It will take time to accomplish but with this energy, enthusiasm and dedication we have already begun to make a difference and we’ll continue to achieve benchmarks and goals along the way. It is helpful to recall that very famous phrase “Rome wasn’t built in a day” (nor was it built by a small group) and recognize that each of us has a role to play in building our local economy and community.
Thus, I encourage you to think about your neighbors and choose to become involved in your community by participating in a service club, volunteering or joining one of the strategic chamber committees and by supporting local business. A simple way to help is to stop and consider your neighbors when you are planning your child’s birthday party, choosing a dentist, doctor, mechanic or accountant, grocery shopping, buying gas, purchasing home repair materials or looking for that special gift etc. and choose to support locally owned and operated businesses. This keeps your dollars here in town thereby helping to support your community. Together we can make a difference and it starts with each of us making caring decisions on a daily basis.
