Having lived in this wonderful community for over 33 years, I think it is safe to say I have witnessed many changes to the South Shore. While change can be sometimes un-settling, I believe it presents us with a great opportunity to move forward in a unified and positive way to reach our shared commitment: A town we are proud to call home. Like you, I moved my family here to enjoy the safety and security of our town, great schools for our children, a viable means of conducting business, and experience, on a day to day basis, the high quality of life Lake Tahoe living offers.
I am looking forward to “giving back” to this great community as your chairman.
Your board of directors recently conducted the annual retreat for the express purpose of identifying and providing those services vital for a healthy and prosperous business climate. Your chamber recognizes that in serving the business interests we also provide the necessary revenues to protect our environment, an important legacy to pass on. Among those items discussed and adopted to review and implement were ……
Networking – continue to offer a variety of business to business breakfast/luncheons, business after-hour mixers, Town Hall Forums, an annual Business Expo, e-mails blasts, website advertising and other venues to allow you to network with hundreds of business professionals.
Governmental Affairs – recognizing that THIS Chamber is the only entity representing and protecting your business interests with regard to burdening regulations and revitalizing a strong local economy.
Community Plan - continue to secure grants such as the EDA Federal Grant for a Prosperity Plan and Discover ECO El Dorado for our community.
Partnerships – establish strong partnerships with all governmental, political, and environmental entities such as city and county government, LTVA, TRPA, and other regulatory associations
I invite all members of our community to put aside the suspicions, mistakes, and negativity of the past and lets move forward together. Like all journeys through life, our challenges will be many and formidable. But, I truly believe we can work through these challenges if we BELIEVE in ourselves. Our community will be as vibrant as WE want it to be! |
