Learn more about this emerging leader in her Q&A below.

Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Anjie Goulding!

Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?

I work at Kirkwood Mountain Resort overseeing the Tickets, Season Pass, Ski School Sales, and Scanning departments. Since I started in December of 2009, my role and responsibilities have been constantly evolving. Recently, I have become the company’s director sponsor for our Scanning Department’s Best Practice Group. As well as the Epic Promise Champion for Kirkwood, which oversees the Foundation, Community and Zero Footprint branches. Lastly I have helped to create and implement a new company wide program called POWDER. This program helps to promote opportunities for women through diversity, equality and respect.

What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?

I had the opportunity to be a major part of helping a team of amazing individuals successfully integrate multiple newly acquired resorts. I was the main point of contact for Mount Sunapee and was a contributing team member with Okemo, Stowe, Crested Butte and Stevens Pass. This was a very large project with an aggressive timeline, but working with an amazing team of successful collaborative people, I was able to grow as a professional.

Do you have a professional/life mantra that you live by?

PAY ATTENTION. Watch what folks are doing and not saying. Be observant. Pay attention to actions as much as you pay attention to words. As this will often teach you more about people than what they are actually telling you. Genuinely care about others and how they are doing.

Who is your role model?

This is always a hard question for me. My parents and an employer/friend named Kay Harris are some of the first that come to mind. In my role today, there are many folks that have been influential through my professional career and value each connection. I am always looking to find strong leaders to work with and learn from.

Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?

I first visited South Lake when I was going to college at Chico State to ski with some friends. After I finished grad school, I traveled around backpacking exploring the high country, rivers, canyons and mountains surrounding California, Utah, Oregon and Colorado. When winter came, I decided to try and find a job in Tahoe to learn how to ski for ‘one’ season. I love the outdoors and really fell in love with all the year round outdoor activity options and the lifestyle in Tahoe, the rest is history.

Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?

I am able to work with many of our local Non-Profits though our Epic Promise Program. I volunteer at our Warm Room, I am on the Leadership Lake Tahoe Task Force and attend the Lake Tahoe Collaborative Meetings. I have a strong passion for this community and love to volunteer where my interests meet my passion.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

My favorite thing is going on adventures. Whether that is skiing, hiking, biking, backpacking, boating or traveling, I prefer to spend that time with family and friends. There are so many great options in Tahoe, I have explored a lot and I still have so many more spots to go, see, or revisit. Travel is also a passion of mine, I love getting to see new places and learn about different cultures. I also LOVE live music and love seeing how talented musicians are. Dancing is fun too.

Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds

In the winter you can find me skiing at Kirkwood. Summer I will be biking (road or mountain), boating, hiking, and exploring Desolation Wilderness. You will always find my dog, Nala, with me. I also enjoy trivia night at South Lake Brewing Company, even though I am terrible at trivia.
