“I always strive to take care of my crew, the station, and the department.”

Brenen is Captain/Paramedic for the City of South Lake Tahoe.

Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Brenen Davis!

Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?

As a Fire captain for the City of South Lake Tahoe, I have the privilege to serve the needs of our community with honesty, fairness, and integrity. This is my 15th year working with outstanding firefighters in our department. My responsibilities are to provide leadership in my organization and respond to emergencies in South Lake Tahoe as well as the state of California and Nevada. I always strive to take care of my crew, the station, and the department.

I would have to say that my most recent accomplishment was my promotion to Captain in June of 2020.

What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?

Last year, COVID brought many new challenges. Keeping my family, my crew, the community, and myself safe and COVID free was the top priority. Overcoming these challenges and making the next step to Fire Captain was my biggest carrier moment last year.

Do you have a professional/life mantra that you try to live by?

Smile and respect others! And, when something needs to get done, work hard to do it right, and have fun doing it!

Who is your role model?

I cannot say that I have one specific role model. Throughout my life, I am honored to be able to work with other positive and enterprising people who have helped shape who I am today.

Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?

I was lucky enough to be raised in Tahoe. The mountains and the community built me to be the man I am today. I love everything Tahoe has to offer! The outdoor recreation, crisp mountain air, the lake, and the seasons. I thoroughly enjoy giving back to the community that I grew up in, and I look forward to sharing my passions with my growing family and raising my Kids in Tahoe.

Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?

I am a High School student mentor and have taken a small part in many of the community programs that South Tahoe Fire participates with including Christmas cheer, community CPR and South Tahoe Action Team.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Spending time with my family outdoors and explore what Tahoe has to offer. My passions are skiing, mountain biking and climbing. I love spending time on the lake, hiking and camping.

Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds?

In the Winter, its Kirkwood, Sierra At Tahoe or any of the south South shores backcountry mountains. In the Summer, you can find me at Baldwin beach with my family, or on my Mountain bike on Toads wild ride, Corral loop or Cold creek trail.
