“With hard work and focus, you can make anything happen.”

As the Director of Marketing and Communications at Tahoe Wellness Center, Carolan LaCroix works to optimize the company’s marketing campaigns and create new opportunities to connect with current and future customers. Beyond her day job, Carolan is also an ambassador with the Tahoe Chamber to assist and strengthen the local business community.

Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Carolan LaCroix!

Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?

At Tahoe Wellness Center as Director of Marketing and Communications, I am charged with managing and optimizing marketing and advertising strategies, as well as streamlining internal and external communications. So far in my time here, I’ve been able to roll out our Gift Cards, Customer Rewards, Referral Programs, and open up channels of communication to ensure customers and community stay informed.

What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?

Donating time to Bread and Broth’s Adopt-a-dinner under TWC. This allowed me to represent our business and what we stand for, while also taking action on personal beliefs by directly helping members of the community.

Do you have a professional/life mantra that you live by?

“Think +”
My father (a commercial electrical contractor) would use this often, cleverly written to connect positive charges and attitudes. He would write it on his notes before every work day, and even on lunch and school notes for my siblings and I, as a reminder to always keep your head up and to make the best of any situation. Today, my siblings and I use this phrase as a reminder to persevere when things might be tough.

Who is your role model?

I’m lucky enough to have more than one role model in my life, who have guided me to the success I have found today, through endless support and love!

My husband Mike is my rock, and the person I have looked to for advice and guidance since we began our journey 12 years ago. From the very beginning he has been nothing but supportive of my career and every bit of the person I am, and does everything in his power to show me every day. Not only are we able to enjoy each day together with laughter and love, but he consistently cheers me on through anything I am up against, professionally or personally. He is the compass that guides me through tough decisions and even tougher days. Every pivotal moment of my career and personal growth has been advised by his wisdom, love, and positivity, and I absolutely would not be who I am today without him by my side.

My Father is a small business owner who started his Electrical Contracting business from the ground up, and showed my siblings and I that with hard work and focus, you can make anything happen. He always taught that family is first, he impressed the importance of education, and made every tae-kwon-do practice and choir recital without fail. From my music taste to my attention to detail, I owe my success to the foundation he built.

Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?

It started with a road trip to visit family that had moved here from Texas. My husband and I fell in love with the beautiful surroundings and tight-knit community, and in 2012, we decided to make the move. We have loved every day since, and could not ask for a better home.

Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?

Donating and volunteering time at Bread & Broth. Devoting time to the Chamber through its Ambassador program, to assist in enhancing South Lake Tahoe’s local business landscape for the community and business owners.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Spending time outside with my husband and our dogs. If I’m not at work, you can find us all out on a hike or down by the water (or out in the snow if it’s winter).

Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds?

At the end of my street – South Upper Truckee. There are endless trails and many points of water access for us and our dogs, all within our own neighborhood.
