Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Clayton Humphries!

Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?

As Associate Publisher of Tahoe Quarterly I am responsible for all operations, marketing strategy, digital growth, events, social media and most importantly community engagement. I launched Montara Media Group as I found myself going the extra length with clients to help with their marketing efforts. The result has been an incredible relationship with clients that I am lucky enough to call friends. On a daily basis, I get to do what I love most which is helping businesses reach their marketing goals and improve their revenue and community involvement. I work on brand strategy, design, photography and copywriting. All areas I have a true passion for.

What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?

I would have to say the 2019 Mountain Home Awards. I was lucky enough to host 400+ of the areas top professionals in building, interior design and architecture to be honored for their work on homes around the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Do you have a professional/life mantra that you live by?

Stay Humble, laugh often and always be the best.

Who is your role model?

My good friend Brett Fillmore, He is a former Navel Commander, an athlete, a father, a husband, an entrepreneur and all the while has a great sense of humor. I love that he finds comedy in all moments of life. Its something I strive for everyday.

Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?

Seems like Tahoe has always been home to me. It’s more than a place, its a lifestyle. It leaves visitors in awe and even today holds secrets I’m yet to discover. We wanted to raise our daughter here to give her a lifetime of experience in the mountains and just decided to do it. Best decision we’ve ever made.

Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?

Yes, I am a board member on the North Tahoe Business Association and I contribute to Tahoe Fund regularly. I also am a member of Tahoe Waterman which focuses on paddling races around the lake.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

First would be to spend time with my beautiful wife Julia Szendrei and daughter Sierra Grace. They are my world. But when they need me to go have some fun I’m either behind the lens of my camera, paddling my outrigger canoe or enjoying the slopes in the winter or riding mountain bike in the summer on our beautiful trail networks.

Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds

Hiking to Eagle Lake has always been a pastime for me. I used to go there a lot as a kid while camping at the oh so beautiful DL Bliss. Hard to beat a night stargazing there after a day of hiking and enjoying the lake. That and mountain biking Mr. Toads. Does it get any better?
