“Tahoe is a place of true beauty and excitement. I am fortunate to have been born and raised here and to have had my two children here as well.”

Jenelle is an Accounting Technician for the City of South Lake Tahoe carrying on her family’s legacy of hard work and dedication to Tahoe.

Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Jenelle Trella!

Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?

As an Accounting Technician, I assist the public with filing for business licenses and Transient Occupancy Tax. I also assist in processing payment batches for our Accounts Payable Department. Some accomplishments include reviewing and assisting approximately 4,000 business owners with their renewals and filings.

What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?

My favorite professional moment from the last year would be adapting to working from home and still being able to assist the public and city staff with their revenue needs.

Do you have a professional/life mantra that you try to live by?

My main mantra is, “Life is short, do what makes you happy.” I love my family, my job and the people I work with.

Who is your role model?

A hard question, as I have met and worked with so many amazing people that I consider role models, but I would choose my Mom, the former City Clerk. She always maintained the image of a true professional woman. While growing up, I was so blessed to have been able to be in the front row for her accomplishments throughout the years in her career.

Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?

Why not? Tahoe is a place of true beauty and excitement. I am fortunate to have been born and raised here and to have had my two children here as well. I am truly thankful for my family, and to have such a great job and plan to have a long career with the City of South Lake Tahoe.

Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?

Each year my family and I participate in “Emily’s Walk for Hope” which is in memory of my sister and others our community has lost to Suicide. I try to be as involved in spreading the great work the Suicide Prevention Network does within our community and the services they provide.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

My favorite things to do outside of work would include spending time with my family and friends, camping, boating and UTV riding.

Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds?

My backyard is pretty amazing (Mountain View Estates/Angora area) and is such a beautiful place to go out and explore with my two daughters. And, being out on our boat in the middle of the lake is one of the most peaceful and tranquil places.
