“I want to challenge myself to follow opportunities and live the results.”

Jessica Albee is the Director of Membership for the Tahoe Beach Club, where she sells Clubhouse memberships to Tahoe locals and second homeowners for access to the private lakefront community. Recently transitioning from her position at Live Violence Free, Jessica has extensively given back to the community by hosting their annual fundraiser and volunteering with SOS Outreach.

Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Jessica Albee!

Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?

I am the Director of Membership for the Tahoe Beach Club. I work in one of the most beautiful settings, right on the sands of Nevada Beach, with a gorgeous view of Lake Tahoe and the mountains. The Tahoe Beach Club is a private lakefront community with a Clubhouse full of services and amenities. I sell the Clubhouse memberships to Tahoe locals, folks from the neighboring communities like Carson Valley, Gardnerville, Reno, and to second homeowners to enjoy year round.

What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year? As I just transitioned positions to the Tahoe Beach Club, in 2019 I was working for Live Violence Free a local nonprofit serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. We were beginning to plan the annual fundraiser, and the LVF board members approved the idea of changing the recurring Sunset Gala to a music-based fundraiser, An Afternoon of Peace & Harmony, where Mescalito, Sal’s Greenhouse, and Nikka Costa performed at the Harveys Outdoor Concert Arena. I had a great time coordinating the event and successfully increasing LVF’s support from vendors, sponsorships, event volunteers, and of course, guests. The best part of the celebration was sharing the success stories of the agency to donors and friends beyond our community, and this was all possible because of the impactful work of my past LVF colleagues.

Do you have a professional/life mantra that you live by?

Think it. Do it. Live it.

This mantra reminds me that even when I have fear, I want to challenge myself to follow opportunities and live the results. Even if the result may not have ended in my favor, I am glad I had the experience. I came up with it when I was beginning to plan my trip to hike Half Dome under a full moon – it was an amazing experience.

Who is your role model?

I can’t say I have one specific role model—I believe that the most important people in my life have shown me qualities to strive towards. From parents, siblings, and family to friends and mentors—each brings out the best version of me and has helped to shape who I am today.

Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?

I grew up in Pacifica, CA, and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I was frequenting South Lake Tahoe on the weekends. When I was ready to escape the crowds and traffic, I thought it would be amazing to live within all the beauty (and of course, play!) of South Lake Tahoe, so I decided to make the move. It still is one of the best decisions of my life.

Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?

Upon moving to South Lake Tahoe, I first volunteered for Live Violence Free to help with their annual fundraiser before becoming a full-time staff member as their Fund Development Manager. I have volunteered with SOS Outreach and was a class participant in the Leadership Lake Tahoe Class 2020.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

I have so many favorites –  a large percentage of my life outside of work involves being outside in any season with my friends, boyfriend, two pups while through hiking, snowboarding, biking, camping… there’s always an adventure to enjoy!

Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds?

Kiva beach, the River, Fallen Leaf, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Potholes…
