Jon Martinez is the General Manager/Partner at Ten Crows BBQ where he has worked hard and sustained the restaurant’s success throughout the difficult pandemic shutdown through creativity and community engagement.
Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Jon Martinez!
Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?
My role varies from day-to-day but my main responsibilities as the General Manager of Ten Crows BBQ are but not limited to overseeing all operations at the restaurant, building relationships within the community and making sure we deliver the best dang product we can.
What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?
I would have to say being able to work through every bit of adversity the global pandemic put on our restaurant group and coming out stronger than ever.
Do you have a professional/life mantra that you live by?
Great things never came from comfort zones.
Who is your role model?
My grandad for always being the kindest and most selfless individual I’ve ever met.
Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?
I used to visit this area as a kid and, by chance, I had the opportunity to relocate here and haven’t looked back.
Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?
Most of my volunteer work comes from participating in the multiple charity events yearly we at Ten Crows BBQ participate in. I’m also an active participant in the South Lake Tahoe Restaurant Association.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Checking out some live music, spending time with friends and having a cocktail at the Social House Speakeasy!
Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds?
MacDuffs Pub, Sidellis Brewery, any and all beaches on the east shore!
