“It has been an incredible journey and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it. “

Justeen Ferguson balances work and play throughout all of her professions as a Graphic Designer for Tahoe Weekly, U-12 Race Coach at Squaw Valley, and a wedding/event planner. When she’s not working, Justeen enjoys every outdoor activity that Tahoe has to offer, such as skiing, mountain biking, and spending time at the lake.

Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Justeen Ferguson!

Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?

For the Tahoe Weekly I am a Graphic Designer mainly focusing on ad designs and some layout work, social media and Website. I am also a U-12 Race Coach at Squaw Valley, I grew up racing on the Heavenly Ski Foundation and skiing has always been a huge part of my life so getting to share that with younger generations is a dream! My biggest accomplishment I would say is coaching the “Glitter Girls” they are a group of female U-12 athletes that went from not wanting to ski at all to this year winning races! It has been an incredible journey and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it.

What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?

On the event and wedding planning side seeing an entire wedding through from the beginning to the end. This past year I was able to help plan one of my best friends weddings and it made the whole process so much more special and watching her walk down the aisle in this magical design we created together was amazing!

Do you have a professional/life mantra that you live by?

Always make sure its fun, if you’re not having fun its not worth it.

Who is your role model?

My Dad, he is the hardest working guy I have ever met. He moved to Lake Tahoe right out of High School and started Ferguson Excavating and has been a huge part of the Lake Tahoe Community for 45 years now.

Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?

Everything I love is here, skiing, mountain biking, the lake, my friends, family and having grown up here it’s a very special place. I have been lucky enough to do a lot of traveling and it is never a bummer to come home to Tahoe.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Anything outside, in the winter time I will be out skiing and in the summer I love to mountain bike or get out on the water. Any outdoor activity really.

Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds?

I love getting up in the morning and taking a lap on Corral, South Tahoe Crossfit, Sierra at Tahoe.
