Since falling in love with the Tahoe lifestyle 14 years ago, Meg Peart has found a home in many different roles around town. As the Grant Coordinator and Human Resources Manager for the Tahoe Resource Conservation District, Meg helps to implement grant funded environmental improvement projects around the Lake Tahoe Basin. In her free time, she volunteers for V-Day Tahoe, a global activist movement to end violence against women, and also serves on the board of the Tahoe Arts Project. Get to know Meg a little better in her Q&A below.

Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Meg Peart!

Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?

The Tahoe Resource Conservation District implements grant funded environmental improvement projects around the lake. My role is to work with the funders and staff to ensure compliance both fiscally and contractually. I also serve the role of Human Resources administrator.

In my free time I produce, direct and choreograph for various performing arts events in our community. This past year I directed and produced The Vagina Monologues, choreographed Jesus Christ Superstar, and assisted with choreography and production for Dancing with the Tahoe Stars.

What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?

I have been the director and producer of The Vagina Monologues since 2013. In that time, we have raised over $50K that has gone directly back to our community through scholarships and donations. Hitting $50K was a huge milestone and I am proud to be involved with this event.

Do you have a professional/life mantra that you live by?

“She believed she could, so she did” – R.S. Grey

Who is your role model?

There are many people that I have met along the way during my life that have inspired me. I like to think that I gain bits and pieces of inspiration from everyone I meet every day.

Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?

I moved to Tahoe for “one winter season” 14 years ago, and never left. I instantly fell in love with the people and the lifestyle that Tahoe offers. I am thankful to be involved in our community on so many different levels and look forward to many more years of growing as a professional in Lake Tahoe.

Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?

Yes, I have volunteered as the director and producer of The Vagina Monologues in South Lake Tahoe for the past 5 years. Our organization, V-Day Tahoe is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls by raising funds and awareness.

I also serve as a board member for Tahoe Arts Project, a non-profit providing cultural enrichment and diversity for the community, through the arts and education, with focus on our youth.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Anything outside! Hiking with my dogs, backpacking, running, kayaking, snowboarding, brewery hopping on Lime Scooters and lazy beach days.

Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds?

Logan Shoals, Dardanelles, Sidellis, SLBC, Ten Crows BBQ, MacDuff’s
