“[Tahoe] is where I was born, raised and what has shaped me as a human growing up. Many of the values, interests and perceptions I have are because of this beautiful community that raised me. I’ve been fortunate to travel and work in other communities both large and small, however, there really is no place like this community. I am raising my two kids here because of what this place offers, and I would like to present them with the same opportunities I had growing up.”

Scott Fair, Director at NAI Tahoe Sierra, is the latest honoree of our 40 under 40. Born and raised in South Lake Tahoe, Scott returned in 2007 to his love of the lake, family, community and quality of life. For the past decade, his focus on real estate, economic development and business development has proven impactful to our community  and continually helped transform the South Shore. Congratulations Scott!

Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?

I’m the owner/director of NAI Tahoe Sierra, a full service commercial real estate company. My responsibilities are brokerage of commercial real estate of both sales and leases. The responsibilities of this are essentially economic development for primarily the South Lake Tahoe region. I track local economic trends and act in a business recruitment role for our community.

What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?

My favorite professional moment in this past year has been watching the businesses I’ve been fortunate to work with, for the most part, grow and be successful. There’s some new businesses and ideas coming to town that I think can really transition this community in a positive direction.

Do you have a professional/life mantra that you try to live by?

Be honest, fair, and do what’s right.

What was your first job?

When I was five or six, my parents would drop me off at Ski Run Marina before the redeveloped center was there. For $1/hour, I would pull the paddle boats in and out all day and Steve Denzler would buy me a hot dog for lunch. In my mind this was my first job. However, in reality, I think it was more my parents dropping me off and my boss was really my babysitter for the day and they paid me for it.

Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?

This is where I was born, raised, and what has shaped me as a human growing up. Many of the values, interests, and perceptions I have are because of this beautiful community that raised me. I’ve been fortunate to travel and work in other communities both large and small however there really is no place like this community. I am raising my two kids here because of what this place offers, and I would like to present them with the same opportunities I had growing up.

Regarding my professional life, I chose what I am doing here because I feel that I can make a positive impact in this community by working with our built infrastructure and recruiting other like-minded businesses to this town.

Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?

I am currently a Tahoe Chamber Board Member, and participate in the CEO Working Group.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Playing in Tahoe and traveling.

Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds?

The lake and mountains.
