Todd White lives in nearby Pollock Pines, but much of his work (serving as the Program Manager of Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Dorado County) and volunteer efforts (serving as a Tahoe Chamber Ambassador) involves the South Shore.

A lifelong resident of El Dorado County, Todd has always been heavily involved in supporting his community. And here in the South Shore, Todd is a Tahoe Chamber Ambassador, member of Tahoe Regional Young Professionals and is involved in Progress for Tahoe.

Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Todd White.

Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?

The responsibilities of my position include recruiting, interviewing, and ensuring safety to children referred to our organization for positive mentorship from a responsible adult.

What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?

My favorite professional moment in the last year has been to see some of our long-term matches transition from one year to the next. It is always nerve racking when one school year ends because everything can change over the summer break.

Do you have a professional/life mantra that you live by?

“Appreciation can make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary”—Margaret Cousins.

What was your first job?

My first job was an office assistant at the Foothill Indian Education Alliance in Placerville.

Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?

I live in Pollock Pines, but I am fortunate to work up in Tahoe part of the week. The South Lake Tahoe community has accepted Big Brothers Big Sisters with open arms, and the people here are amazing. The people of Tahoe make this community a paradise in every sense of the word.

Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?

I serve as a Tahoe Chamber Ambassador. I am active in Tahoe Regional Young Professionals (TRYP). I am also involved in Progress for Tahoe. I have personally mentored my own Little Brother in South Lake Tahoe for three years.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

My favorite thing to do outside of work is to spend time with friends. Whether it be going out for a beer or spending time outside doing something, I love to be in the company I truly respect.

Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds?

I love going to Fallen Leaf Lake and Mt. Tallac. I also like having breakfast at Ernie’s. After work, I like to go to Sidellis or Chimayo for a drink.
