The Tahoe Chamber is now accepting applications for the Leadership Lake Tahoe Class of 2019-20. Since its beginning in 2003, this intensive development program has helped shape the community with emerging leaders from various sectors including Barton Health and The City of South Lake Tahoe, as well as small business owners and entrepreneurs such as Cowork Tahoe and Lake Tahoe AleWorX.
Through the ten-month program, the class will gain awareness of the issues and challenges that face the South Shore community. A different topic will be covered on the first Wednesday of every month from September 2019 to June 2020. The key topics include economic development, environment, government, tourism, social and community resources, transportation, education, and public safety.
Natasha Schue, Community Outreach Coordinator for Barton Health and Tahoe Chamber Board Member is a longtime supporter of the program. According to Mrs. Schue, “Leadership Lake Tahoe is an enriching program that both educates and inspires participants about what it means to live, work and play in the community. I’ve gone through the program (both as a participant and task force member) and with each experience I’ve learned something new and feel more empowered to play an active role in our region.”
Individuals that are interested in helping to shape the South Shore community are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be aware and prepared for the ten-month commitment. The application process for Leadership Lake Tahoe is competitive and participants are selected based on their interest in the future of the community.
To apply, visit www.tahoechamber.org. A completed application and a signed employer consent form are due by June 3, and applicant interviews will begin the second week in June.
