In the face of growing wildfire risk across California and Nevada, fire preparedness is no longer seasonal—it’s year-round. That’s why the Tahoe Chamber and South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce are partnering to host a critical Fire Forum on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the TADA Building at South Tahoe High School.

This free community event is open to all residents and business owners who want to learn how to better protect their homes, properties, and neighborhoods from wildfire threats.

🔥 What to Expect

The South Shore Fire Forum is your opportunity to get informed, ask questions, and connect with the local experts leading our region’s wildfire response and prevention efforts.

Highlights include:

  • 🔥 Expert Panel Discussion (6:00 PM – 7:30 PM):
Hear directly from Fire Chiefs representing the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team as they share updates on wildfire threats, emergency response strategies, evacuation plans, and real-world lessons learned from the Palisades Fire.

  • 🧠 Live Q&A with Fire Safety Experts:
Get your most pressing questions answered by local fire officials in a moderated discussion immediately following the panel.

  • 📚 Informational Booths:
Connect with local land managers, fire districts, and water purveyors offering resources on defensible space, evacuation preparedness, and community safety programs.

🗣 A Word from the Fire Chief

“The idea of ‘fire season’ is outdated. We need to be prepared all year long,”
said Jim Drennan, Fire Chief of South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR).
“With increased fire activity throughout California, including recent incidents in L.A., people here in Tahoe are understandably concerned. This forum gives us a chance to address those concerns directly.”

💡 Why It Matters

Whether you’re a longtime local or a new homeowner, this event will give you the tools and insights you need to make informed decisions and take meaningful action to protect what matters most. With wildfire risk on the rise, preparedness isn’t optional—it’s essential.
