June 8, 2021 (South Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev.) – El Dorado County government will soon be receiving the first half of what will ultimately be a total of some $37.46 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan Act. Previously, with funding from the federal COVID Relief package passed by Congress in December 2020, the County Board of Supervisors approved $5 million for a small business COVID relief grant program. Three chambers – Tahoe Chamber,  El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce, and El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce – were successful in helping to design this program. We advocated for its approval, and assisted with the grant application and award process. Over 300 businesses throughout the county, all struggling with the impacts of the pandemic, received grant awards of up to $30,000 each.

In advance of funding from the American Rescue Plan, we are currently working with the County’s Economic Development Division through the Business Protection Workgroup to identify opportunities and programs that will again help support our small businesses, the backbone of our communities. We are confident our County Board of Supervisors will recognize the collaborative success of the prior grant program and consider approving a second allocation of funds for the small business COVID relief grant program. As advocates for our respective business communities, we know the need is still great. We commit to being partners in this timely effort, as we were earlier this year.
