We at Tahoe Chamber are proud to be part of the group of community leaders working with El Dorado County and the El Dorado Community Foundation to disburse grant monies to eligible small businesses. These are businesses that applied for financial assistance from the County’s federal CARES Act funds.

The El Dorado Board of Supervisors agreed this summer to make a total of $5 million available to small businesses throughout the County. The money is intended to help with COVID-19 pandemic expenses and the economic impacts that have left many struggling to survive.

We are part of the County’s Business Protection Workgroup providing input on the disbursement of funds, working in coordination with the El Dorado County Chamber, El Dorado Hills Chamber, Tahoe Prosperity Center, El Dorado Community Foundation staff and staff from the County’s economic development team.

Notifications are out by mail this week to qualified applicants informing them of the process for receiving their grant checks using an acknowledgment form customized for each business.

Program eligibility, with approved grant amounts typically between $20,000 and $30,000 per business, was based on the required documentation that expenses and impacts were COVID-related.

Some 47 South Lake Tahoe area businesses will be receiving their funds from the El County Community Foundation which is administering the program for the County. Tahoe Chamber is also supporting a similar small business COVID relief grant program in Douglas County.
