The Association has invited interested members of the community to attend their January meeting, scheduled for Thursday, January 9, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the meeting room at the LTVA/Tahoe Chamber building (aka Tahoe Transportation Center), 169 US Highway 50 in Stateline.

Ted Gaines, former California State Senator and now a member of the California State Board of Equalization for the First District, will discuss the proposed amendment to Proposition 13 known as the “Split Roll” Tax Initiative that would remove commercial properties in the state from their property tax protections and tax them on market value and not purchase price.

Recently, proponents of this massive tax hike proposal announced that they have collected 25 percent of the valid signatures needed to place this proposal on this year’s November 3rd General Election ballot. Note: Tahoe Chamber has announced its intention to join with other business organizations throughout California to oppose this measure, should it be qualified to make the ballot.
