1955

The Chamber is incorporated in California

The South Lake Tahoe Airport is built

Chris Kuraisa purchases Bijou for $1,950, moves lift operations up the hill and renames the area Heavenly Valley.

Chris Kuraisa, and casino owners George Canon, Rudy Gersick, and Curly Musso opens Heavenly Valley’s California’s Base Lodge and one lift

1960

Squaw Valley Olympics brings infrastructure and jobs to the Tahoe Region

1965

City of South Lake Tahoe incorporated

1997

A major mudslide closes Hwy 50. The Chamber coordinates with the California Governor and Cal Trans to reduce the amount of time Hwy 50 is closed.

The Chamber co-hosts a Presidential Summit concerning the economy and the environment. The event is attended by President of the United States Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore, as well as Congress members and Senators.

1999

The Chamber plays a major role in the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act and encourages Senator Feinstein to commit $30 million per year

2007/2008

Tahoe Douglas Chamber of Commerce and South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce merge to create Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce (Tahoe Chamber)

2015

Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce celebrates 60 years

City of South Lake Tahoe celebrates 50 years
