Tahoe Chamber has a long history of developing and offering election endorsements to those candidates for local office whose approach, demeanor, and values most closely match our mission and values as membership-based community organization.

We use a multi-step process to reach our decisions, including individual candidate interviews, candidate forums we invite the community to attend, and consultations with members of our Government Affairs Committee and Board of Directors. Increasingly, over the most recent local election cycles, we have engaged graduates of our Leadership Lake Tahoe program to serve on our Candidate Endorsement Committee, conducting the interviews and asking the questions at our election forums. We believe strongly in the need to integrate new and emerging members of our community into the local decision and policy-making process.

Tahoe Chamber is not just engaged during election years, but our commitment to active advocacy on behalf of our member and community at the local, state, and federal levels of policy and decision-making is consistent throughout the year. This approach allows us to be knowledgeable on a wide variety of issues, knowledge which also plays an important role in our candidate endorsement process.

In advance of this year’s General Election, we announced our endorsements for South Lake Tahoe City Council, El Dorado County District V Supervisor, and the South Tahoe Public Utility District Board last week. You can review our endorsements and the reasons for each here.
