The mission statement of Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra is to “Strengthen and enhance the lives of women and youth in our community and the world.” With that established mission in mind, this non-profit organization offers scholarships, service, and support to the girls and women in our community.

Welcome to our Tahoe Chamber community, Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra! Learn more about them below in the Q&A below.

What type of business do you represent and how long have you been in business?

Soroptimist International Tahoe Sierra, chartered in 1977, is part of an international non-profit organization that works to improve and enhance the lives of women and youth in our community and the world. We are a very hands-on club investing the majority of our fundraising and efforts into our youth of the South Shore of Lake Tahoe.

Tell us more about what products and services your business offers. Is there anything people might not be aware you offer?

We offer scholarships, awards, hands-on help as well as services to our community. We work directly with young girls at South Tahoe Middle School and teens are Mt. Tallac High School. We also provide backpacks full of school supplies for families in need and books for each child in Kindergarten through 8th grade to take home yearly, as well as support many of the other non-profits in areas that work with women and youth.

Tell us about any current/upcoming events, promotions, or unique deals happening at your organization.

Our one and ONLY fundraiser is coming up April 18th, 2020. The Elegant Evening, held at Harrah’s from 5:30-10:30 PM, will include a cocktail hour, sit down dinner, live music and dancing with Trey Stone, wine, beer, vodka tastings, raffles and the largest online Silent Auction around (bring your phones to bid). Tickets are $75.00. We are looking for sponsors (only $1500.00 gets you a bunch of advertising, as well as a table for 10 at the event). We also give a lot of exposure to businesses that donate items to our silent auction.

Why did you choose to join the Tahoe Chamber?

We want to be a more active part of the Tahoe business community and have the opportunity to share what we do with all of our business partners that support us as well.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us to be featured in the Member Spotlight?

We are an energetic club of women with huge hearts and passions. We believe that change occurs at the grassroots level of all efforts. Yearly we evaluate the needs of our community and then renew our goals and objectives to best meet those needs. We are committee-driven, meaning that we work as a team in how we conduct our efforts and business. We enjoy where we live, we support one-another, and we celebrate and put to work our strengths. We work to make effective change and welcome all into our organization.
