Tahoe’s newest taphouse, Third Man TapHouse & Gourmet Deli will be opening in mid-October in the Ski Run Center to offer gourmet sandwiches, smoked meats, fresh baked breads, craft beer and fine wine. Their menu will also include a quick service section to provide fast, delicious to-go meals to take to the mountain and beach.

What type of business do you represent and how long have you been in business?

Third Man Taphouse & Gourmet Deli is a new taphouse/gourmet deli at the old KFC location in the Ski Run center.

Tell us more about what products and services your business offers. Is there anything people might not be aware you offer?

We are a casual dining restaurant focused on gourmet sandwiches, smoked meats, fresh baked breads, craft beer and fine wine. Third Man will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a relaxed neighborhood-bar-style atmosphere, which will also feature 16 rotating draft beers, 100 bottled beers and an extensive wine list. We will have several big screen televisions and offer all sports programs, including the NFL Sunday Ticket. Live music will also be implemented once we are up and running. In addition, we will offer a fast-casual experience, where our quick service menu will give guests a higher quality alternative to fast food. We want guests to be able to quickly grab a sandwich or hot cup of soup and hit the slopes or spend a summer day lying on the beach or boating on the lake, enjoying our made from scratch, always fresh food.

Tell us about any current/upcoming events, promotions, or unique deals happening at your organization.

We are still in the midst of planning our opening, which we’re currently projecting to be mid-October. We will be instituting a local’s program, offering up to 20% discounts for locals, as well as other specials offers for special occasions such as birthdays. Once a grand opening is decided on, we will offer specials throughout that first week to give people a gift for being our first customers and showing us support!

Esteban (Steve) Rodriguez – Owner

Steve has been in the restaurant industry for 19 years. Starting as a busser at the age of 16, he quickly worked his way up to serving and then into the kitchen, where he received his first Assistant Kitchen Manager position at the age of 20. He has helped open restaurants from Virginia to Florida and out to California, and has managed several restaurants in both the corporate and small business world. Since arriving in Tahoe 9 years ago, he has spent several years at restaurants in town, including being the head brewer and bar manager at Stateline Brewery for over four years.

Matthew Noble

Matt is a chef, with a varied restaurant background. With over 15 years’ experience, he has done everything from washing dishes to cooking in a corporate restaurant setting, which has directly contributed to his passion for serving quality food and guest satisfaction. He has been a Kitchen Manager for multiple corporate restaurants and most recently for a small business startup in Virginia, where everything on the menu was made from scratch daily. Steve and Matt have been friends since middle school and Matt moved to Tahoe in December to help open Third Man.
