Organization Overview:

After 70 years of operation, family owned-and-operated Tahoe Trout Farm has become a Lake Tahoe tradition. Whether your kids want to catch their first fish or you simply want to have a fresh catch for the grill, this is the place to come for straightforward fishing fun.

What type of business do you represent and how long have you been in business?

The Tahoe Trout Farm has been in business since 1946. My wife and I purchased the trout farm from the previous owner six years ago, in 2012.

Tell us more about what products and services your business offers. Is there anything people may not be aware you offer?

We keep two well-circulated ponds stocked with healthy, Mt. Lassen rainbow trout. The larger of the two ponds is stocked with “catchables,” and trophy rainbows are stocked in the smaller pond. Admission to the Tahoe Trout Farm is free and all ages are welcome! We don’t require a fishing license, and we provide bait and tackle, simplistic “reel-less” rods and fishing nets at no additional fee — but if you’d rather use your own tackle, feel free to bring it.

When you fish with us, there are no limits to your catch. Plan to spend at least one hour at the trout farm in order to check-out equipment, go fishing and get a great picture with your catch. At the end of your visit you will be charged for each fish you catch, based on length. Our staff can clean and pack the fish on ice for an additional fee, as well as provide recommendations for local South Shore restaurants that will cook your catch for you. If you don’t plan to take your catch home, you can leave them with us for donation to local charities Christmas Cheer and Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care.

Tell us about any current/upcoming events, promotions, or unique deals happening at your organization.

The Tahoe Trout Farm is a seasonal business. We are open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily, May through October.

Why did you choose to join the Tahoe Chamber?

Before my wife and I purchased the Tahoe Trout Farm in 2012, the previous owner had been a member of the Tahoe Chamber for many years. We felt it was important to join Chamber and add our voice to the South Shore business community.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us to be featured in the New Member Spotlight?

We encourage all of our friends and neighbors in the South Shore to bring the family and experience one of Tahoe’s hidden historic gems.
