In a pleasant surprise for the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, the South Lake Tahoe City Council voted Tuesday evening to double the proposed City contribution to the Club’s building campaign. City Manager Joe Irvin proposed a contribution of $100,000 toward the construction of the Club’s new building from the City’s Cannabis Community Benefit Fee Revenue, consistent with the reasons this fund was established. Mayor Tamara Wallace, Mayor Pro-Tem Devin Middlebrook, and Councilmember Cristi Creegan enthusiastically voted to increase that amount to $200,000. “Wow, thank you.” said Club Executive Director Jude Wood. “Thank you so much.”

This summer, the Club is marking 30 years of service to the families and the youth of our community, with their mission, “To empower all young people to reach their full potential.”
