The annual Employment Law Workshop returns on Jan. 16

December 3, 2019 (South Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev.) – The Tahoe Chamber’s Level UP Workshop Series returns with the annual Employment Law Update Workshop to help inform our business community on the important changes in employment law as we move into the new year.

According to the study by global insurer Hiscox, U.S.-based companies have over a 10 percent chance of having an employment charge filed against them; however, the risk for businesses in Nevada is 55% higher than the national average, with California being 46% higher. Staying educated on these laws will help protect your company and yourself.

This essential workshop will provide attendees with the latest changes in business law such as the new minimum wage and hour requirements in both California and Nevada. Our presenter will also delve in to critical topics such as sexual harassment in the workplace and the new “Me Too” laws.

Workshop facilitator, Brett Sutton, an attorney and owner of the Sutton Hague Law Corporation, specializes in working directly with business owners both small and large. He has nearly thirty years of legal practice experience and is licensed to practice law in California and Nevada. He has trained thousands in all aspects of employment law and his firm conducts bi-monthly webinars on employment law topics for California and Nevada employers. In 2016, he was inducted as a Fellow of the prestigious national College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and has the highest possible rating as a practicing attorney from Martindale-Hubbell.  He has served for many years as a Contributing Editor of the leading treatise on California Employment Law. He is a Board Director of the Nevada Restaurant Association and serves on the Government Affairs Committee. Brett graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law with honors in 1989, where he was also a member of the Law Review. He resides in the South Lake Tahoe area and handles cases and clients throughout California and Nevada.

The cost for this Level UP Workshop is $10 for chamber members ($20 for non-members) and will be held at the Tahoe Chamber on Jan. 16 from 12 PM to 1:30 PM. Register at TahoeChamber.org while spaces are still available.
