Tahoe Chamber, in partnership with the Lake Tahoe Visitor Authority and the South Tahoe Alliance of Resorts, announces the 2018 Tourism Forum: Taking Tourism to the Next Level, scheduled for May 10 at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. The Forum will feature two keynote speakers and breakout sessions specific to the hospitality, retail and culinary industries. This event will provide insights into destination travel trends, opportunities, and challenges that will shape the year ahead.

“Travel trends are always evolving,” said Carol Chaplin, CEO and President of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. “Staying relevant to our visitors is a top priority.”

Early bird tickets are on sale now through May 1. Prices are $30 for chamber members and $50 for non-members. After May 1, ticket prices increase to $40 for chamber members and $60 for non-members. Ticket price includes breakfast.

The lodging and hospitality breakout session will be an interactive presentation from Booking.com detailing current South Lake Tahoe booking trends and how to convert more “lookers into bookers.” Booking.com Executives Sam Amberchan, Liam O’Gorman, and Lis Wert will facilitate the session.

The retail breakout session, What’s Next for Retail, will feature a panel discussion on strategies and tactics for retailers in a seasonal market. The retail panel is made up of local retail experts: Jacob Bender, store manager of Blue Zone Sports; Kelly Brosh, owner of Gaia-Licious Global Gifts; and Malena Winther, owner of Malena Boutique.

Erik Wolf, Executive Director and Industry Founder of the World Food Travel Association, will share his findings from the Food Travel Monitor, the largest food tourism study ever conducted. The study results present a broad based picture of the food travel landscape and its potential economic impact for a destination.

In addition to the culinary breakout session, Wolf will be the morning keynote speaker, highlighting trends in the food tourism industry. Following the morning keynote and breakout sessions, Christina Erny, Senior Manager of Digital Marketing and Engagement for the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitor Authority will discuss the essentials of destination marketing, including digital marketing and advertising, website management, and influencer marketing strategies.

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will host the event located at 50 US-50, Stateline, Nevada, 89449. When registering for the Tourism Forum, be sure to select the breakout session you would like to attend (hospitality, retail, or culinary). For more information and to register visit TahoeChamber.org.

This event would not be possible without the support of its generous sponsors: Sacramento International Airport and Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
