Aug. 11, 2021 (Stateline, NV) – The Tahoe Chamber will remain mission-focused and open to fresh opportunities as the organization announces a new role for CEO Steve Teshara and congratulates Director of Operations Emily Abernathy on her new position with the City of South Lake Tahoe.

The Tahoe Chamber Executive Committee and Steve Teshara have jointly announced Teshara is stepping down from his service as Chief Executive Officer while returning to his focus on handling its governmental relations.

“After five years, it’s time to pass the CEO baton,” said Teshara. “It has been an honor to serve Tahoe Chamber and our membership in that role. With the support of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, I am pleased to help maintain our continuity as an active advocate for business and assist with the hiring and transition to a new CEO,” he said.

“We appreciate the leadership Steve has provided for our board, members, and staff since the summer of 2016,” said Board Chair Tiffany Zabaglo. “We’re glad to have his continued support and engagement as we sustain our dedication to representing the South Shore business community and promoting positive community change.”

Zabaglo said the search for a new Tahoe Chamber CEO is underway with the goal of naming a new leader sometime this fall. More information about the position is available on the organization’s website at tahoechamber.org.

Director of Operations Emily Abernathy, who has worked tirelessly for the organization and its members since 2011, has accepted a position with the City of South Lake Tahoe as Special Events and Rental Facility Coordinator. While Abernathy begins her new position at the end of August, she too has agreed to help with the transition of her Chamber duties.

“Tahoe Chamber will miss Emily’s contribution to the growth and success of the organization,” said Past Chair Bob Anderson. “As a graduate of the Western Association of Chamber Executives (WACE) Academy, her hands-on approach to our special events, educational programs, and Leadership Lake Tahoe, as well as her long-term relationship with our members has helped make the Tahoe Chamber a positive force in the community. We wish her great success in all her future endeavors.”
