Born and raised in Lake Tahoe, Brandi Brown watched her family own multiple businesses in the basin, but noticed a hole in the market. After studying Film and Television Production, Brandi started an award winning creative agency, Tahoe Production House.
With a belief in always giving back, Tahoe Production House continually gives to the community through donations of service, fundraiser prizes, and sponsorship. Brandi also actively volunteers and sits on the boards for many local charities. Get to know her a little better in her Q&A below.
Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Brandi Brown!
Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?
As owner of Tahoe Production House, I mainly act as Sales + Project Manager. My job is to bring in new and existing clients for projects ranging from Video to Photography, Audio Recording (from bands to voice overs and audiobooks), and Marketing Services like Graphic Design, Website Design, Social Media, SEO, Blogging, and more! Once a client hires us to do a project, whether it’s a one off, or an ongoing campaign, my job is to manage our team working on the project and act as a liaison for our client.
What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?
Tahoe Production House has been in business for 8 years, and is an award winning creative agency. We are continually able to give back to our community through donations of services, prizes for fundraisers, and sponsorships of different events. We would not be able to do this without the support of the businesses / people that hire us all year to create valuable assets for them.
Do you have a professional/life mantra that you live by?
First impressions are everything, and if it’s not fun it doesn’t get done.
Who is your role model?
I look up to all of the women in my industry doing what is not a very women friendly industry. I don’t know that I could name any particular one person. I have many strong women in my life that I stay connected with and ask advice and value their friendship.
Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?
I was born and raised here in Lake Tahoe, and my family roots go back as far as +100 years. I left to go to college in LA, and after earning a BA in Film and Television Production from Loyola Marymount University, I found myself back home working for our local TV Station (Lake Tahoe Television) in 2006. I left that job in 2010, and at the beginning of 2011 started Tahoe Production House. I met my now husband in 2008, and in 2016 we welcomed our first child, and in 2018 welcomed our second. Tahoe is special. I want my kids to grow up with the same amazing opportunities I had growing up, living in a year-round playground, and also be surrounded by a loving and giving community. It is also great that we have family here to help out. I watched my family run multiple business in Tahoe for many years, dating back to aprox. 1945. With their inspiration and encouragement I felt that I could do it to. Tahoe Production House is also a unique business. There isn’t another full service creative agency brick and mortar like ours, so I feel like I have created something that people needed here in Tahoe, and doing it at a level of professionalism that I am proud of. We are grateful for every one of our clients and hope to continue what we are doing for years to come.
Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?
I currently sit on the Barton Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, Tahoe Regional Young Professionals board of directors and volunteer my time/skills as much as possible in the community. I believe in giving back, and being part of this community. It’s so important to support the things you care about and show up. Just show up.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Recently my husband and I purchased a home that has been in the family since the 1950’s. Since we are a little house poor, our entertainment seems to stay close to home these days. Our passion is working on our house on the weekends getting those honey do’s off the list, watching our children and doggies (we have 3) play outside, and hosting our friends for dinner parties (with wine).
Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds
Oh man, this town has changed so much over the years! I enjoy visiting all the new spots in town for shopping and eating! There are also so many family friendly spots to enjoy the Lake and walk around, we love Valhalla in the summer, and sledding in the Barton/Johnson Meadow in the winter. There are so many great places, don’t make me choose!
