“I seize every opportunity to advance, learn, grow, and connect.”

As the Director of Resort Marketing at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Lake Tahoe, Brandie Warr blends creativity with business strategy to make the resort truly rock! Her position includes marketing for the entire property, as well as planning and executing all the entertainment and special events. Committed to constantly learning and accepting new opportunities, Brandie has begun participating in the Leadership Lake Tahoe class of 2019-20, as well as recently being nominated and voted on the the Lake Tahoe Visitor’s Authority Marketing Committee.

Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Brandie Warr!

Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?

I always tell people that I oversee “all of the fun things”. My role covers traditional marketing for the entire property. Additionally, my team plans the entertainment and special events. My job blends the creative and strategy aspects of business and there is nothing better than seeing all your hard work and your vision come to fruition. A highlight for me over the past year was executing our New Year’s Eve party in Guitar Plaza. It seems like such a simple event, but so many hours were poured into it. As I stood on the balcony overlooking the plaza and watched as Highway 50 was shut down to accommodate the thousands of people imbibing at the celebration my team planned, it was massively rewarding.

What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?

Recently I was nominated and voted onto the LTVA’s marketing committee as a member at-large. It was such an honor to be recognized by the committee’s members who are local professionals that I respect greatly and that they would choose me to sit beside them and help guide the destination’s marketing objectives and planning.

Do you have a professional/life mantra that you live by?

“If you are the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room.”

I am a constant student; I am always seeking to learn new things. I seize every opportunity to advance, learn, grow, and connect for the sheer sake of learning because there is so much that I don’t know. As a leader, this same mentality ensures that I am hiring smart and talented individuals, so that the end result of my teams’ work is better than what I could have produced on my own.

Who is your role model?

Over the years, I have had many strong female role models who have demonstrated what it looks like to be actively involved and working in a community. The first was my mother whom, from a young age, I watched balance an executive career with parenting while still managing to make everything look seamless. Things were not always easy, but she showed what hard work and determination can bring.

Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?

Tahoe offers the best of city life and mountain life. On the same day, I can be sitting in a board room making high impact decisions and then make an impromptu decision to go kayaking on my way home. Then when I am done with all of that, I can be at a bar enjoying live music and a good meal within 15 minutes.

Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?

I am the Sponsorship Director for the Tahoe Regional Young Professionals (TRYP), where we bring together professionals from around the Basin to foster a sense of community. I have also been blessed with the opportunity to participate in Leadership Lake Tahoe 2019 – 2020 program. Additionally, I lend my time volunteering at beach clean ups and a variety of other events to keep Tahoe the beautiful place I know and love.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

I love to kayak and explore new areas. It gives you a different perspective of this beautiful area than when you are on the shoreline or on a mountain peak. Everything is quiet except for the sound of water and wind and you feel absolutely connected to everything around you and at complete ease.

Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds

I am a huge foodie, so when I am not exploring the lake you can find me at the newest, coolest places in town. One of my regular go-tos is HimmelHaus. It’s tucked right at the base of the mountain and is such a cozy environment with great staff. Plus, I love German food and they sometimes have live music. Who doesn’t love Kaesespaetzle and pretzels with a glimpse of the snowy mountain?
