Airport Salutes Gold Star Families and Local Veterans on the Honor Flight

What: Join airport officials and military supporters from the local community as we welcome home Gold Star Families and veterans from Honor Flight with music, Quilts of Valor, Paws 4 Passengers therapy dogs, and a military salute in remembrance of service and sacrifice.

 

When: Sat., Dec. 1 – Flight #2429 scheduled to arrive at 8:55 p.m.* on Southwest Airlines. The public is invited to the airport at 8:30 p.m. Program will begin once veterans land, dependent on actual flight arrival time.

 

*News media meet at the ski statue at 8:30 p.m. for a special escort

  to the gate to obtain video of the veterans as they arrive.

 

Where: Reno-Tahoe International Airport, Ski Statue

 

Who: Approximately 35 veterans from Vietnam and more recent wars, their friends and family. In addition, this Honor Flight will recognize Gold Star Family members, those who have lost a family member to active military duty. The public is invited to join community supporters from the Nevada Guard, Civil Air Patrol, Blue Star Moms, Comstock Lode Quilters, Paws 4 Passengers and more, to offer thanks for the veterans’ service and offer support for the family members of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
