Get to know Chicken in a Barrel, one of the South Shore’s newest eateries and one of Tahoe Chamber’s newest members, at their grand opening event this Saturday, Sept. 22!
The grand opening festivities will be 12-6 p.m. at their South Shore location at 2100 Lake Tahoe Blvd. In addition to their famous smoke barbeque, the event will include live music, a bounce house for kids, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Special Olympics of Nevada.

What type of business do you represent and how long have you been in business?
Chicken in a Barrel is a fast-casual BBQ restaurant that opened on August 3rd, 2018. The original Chicken in a Barrel opened about eight years ago on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, which is now home to three locations. Our South Lake Tahoe location is the first to open on the mainland! We smoke barbecue our chicken, ribs, beef and pork each day in our unique and proprietary barrels.
Tell us more about what products and services your business offers. Is there anything people may not be aware you offer?
We smoke barbecue chicken, ribs, beef and pork. Before “hooking ‘n hanging” our meats in our unique, and proprietary barrels, they get hand-coated with our own special recipe of rubs. Our smoking process creates an incredibly savory meat that can be thoroughly enjoyed with, or without, any sauce. If you choose to add a sauce, we also make our own special recipe of barbecue sauces—enjoy them in either a sweet or mildly hot flavor.
We also offer our smoked meats on two Mexican-style plates. The taco plate is two tacos stuffed with a choice our smoked, and shredded, meats. A special recipe of cilantro sauce (known as “C sauce” to our regulars) tops the lettuce and cheese and provides a truly fantastic flavor. The Burrito plate is equally fantastic. Starting with a choice of our smoked, and shredded meats, then stuff it full of beans, rice, cheese, and our own special pico de gallo, and you have a one of a kind, two-handed burrito.
While our signature plates are designed around our smoked meats, we do also offer hamburgers. And, of course, these hamburgers are also made fresh daily from fresh, never frozen, hamburger meat with a special blend of ingredients. Enjoy the burgers even more as a classic cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, mushroom cheeseburger, or our popular Hawaiian Cheeseburger.
Tell us about any current/upcoming events, promotions, or unique deals happening at your organization.
Come join us at our Grand Opening celebration this Saturday, Sept. 22. We have a fun-packed day planned that will include a live band, Sierra Gypsies, radio broadcasting from our location with station 93.9 KRLT, a Lilo and Stitch bounce house for the kids. A portion of the proceeds for the day will be donated to the Special Olympics.
Why did you choose to join the Tahoe Chamber?
As owners of previous businesses in Southern California, we know the value of supporting an organization that advocates for good business policies and regulations at the local level. We have had good experiences with other Chambers and look forward to being a part of the Tahoe Chamber!
Do you have anything else you’d like to share?
Come and experience the savory meats smoke barbecued fresh every day at Chicken in a Barrel. Come hungry, as our portions are huge and the smoke barbecued chicken, ribs, beef, and pork are truly amazing. Add a sauce if you’d like. We make our sauces ourselves in either sweet or mildly hot flavors. Our menu is as large as our portions, so you will find something for everyone.
