The self-pour wine bar and restaurant, Tahoe Pourhouse, opened in May 2018 with a unique mission and a community mindset.
The Tahoe Pourhouse signed up as both a participant and a sponsor for the Tahoe Chamber’s annual GO Local & Win campaign, which began on Small Business Saturday. Owners Chef Mark Davis, Chef Edwin Winslow, and Scott Strong decided to offer a deal to their customers for Small Business Saturday to help kick off the campaign. They saw a slight increased in customer traffic, but more importantly, they saw success in the community’s excitement about shopping local and supporting small business.

Why did you decide to sign up Tahoe Pourhouse for the GO Local & Win Campaign?
As a new business in South Lake Tahoe, we are challenged with introducing our unique Mountain Hospitality vision of service to locals and tourists alike. Our decision to run with the Chamber’s GO Local and Win Campaign is due to our triple bottom line business model which of course needs to make profit, but we can use that process to both take care of our employees and their continuing education, and give back to the community through using sustainable, environmentally friendly practices and patronizing local businesses and services for our product needs. Be Local, Buy Local.
What was your Small Business Saturday deal offered?
We offered one of our logoed 11 oz. stemless glasses for those customers who mentioned GO Local and were willing to try our self-serve wine wall.
What kind of customer traffic did you witness?
The traffic was slightly greater than normal, several of our customers who we mentioned the promotion were excited about it and said they were going to enroll.
What was the success you saw with the deal?
We gave away 20 logoed wine glasses and had a chance to introduce many customers to the wine tap system. We supply a informational and educational experience into the qualities of the wine selection accessed by tapping on the screen to see varietal, region, soil type and tasting notes. Many of our customers experienced how it is possible to try a fraction of an ounce of each selection for a truly unique wine education experience.
Do you have any future deals or events coming up in the near future?
We are in the final process of developing our wine club, called the ClubHouse, and will be enrolling new and loyal customers in the program which will feature discounts, exclusive tastings, wine paring seminars and dinners, and much more in depth education.
