Bhupinder Sandu, NDOT District II Engineer, has advised that the coming major winter storm, anticipated snowfall rates, blizzard warnings, and staffing concerns, may cause NDOT to close SR 207, Kingsbury Grade, on the Carson Valley side. Depending on the timing of the storm, this closure may come as early as this Friday evening. He said every possible effort will be made to keep the Tahoe side of Kingsbury Grade open.
Sandu indicates that NDOT’s snow removal priority will be U.S. 50. in and out of the Tahoe Basin. This is particularly essential should Caltrans be forced to close Interstate 80 at any time during the storm.
