“Being able to be apart of so many children’s life has been a true honor. Watching the kids grow and light up on stage makes all the hard work worth it. “
Kylee is a Lake Tahoe native and the Executive Assistant of Tahoe Arts Project where she works closely with the Director and Board to bring performing arts into the schools and community. Kylee can also be found working with Rah Hair Studio, Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio, and as South Tahoe High School’s Dance Coach.
Congratulations to this week’s 40 under 40 honoree, Kylee Finnegan!
Can you tell us a little about your responsibilities and accomplishments in your current position?
Working 4 jobs and a full time stay at home mom of two, it can be challenging to get everything
done! However, working for Tahoe Arts Project and Rah Hair Studio is a blessing. This year I helped
Tahoe Arts Project maintained a presence in the community by virtual programming. I have been
working hard to bring theater arts camps sponsored by Tahoe Arts Project to kids in the community this
summer!
While Covid-19 may have brought postponements to many weddings, this summer will be our
biggest one yet at Rah Hair Studio. I will coordinate with over 100 brides this year to make sure they all
look their best on the big day.
What has been your favorite professional moment in the last year?
One of the best moments this year was the Alex Ramon Live Virtual Magic Show, that brought over 100 families together and allowed us to see the joy on the kids faces. A true testament to the importance of the arts.
Do you have a professional/life mantra that you try to live by?
Do everything you do to the fullest! Also, take time to enjoy the small moments.
Who is your role model?
My role models are my parents. They have been in the community for 40 years. They have taught me how to work hard, give back and be kind to one another. Their examples of work ethic and love for each other has guided me to be successful in work and in my personal life.
Why choose Tahoe to make your home and career?
After growing up here and then leaving for almost 10 years for college and other adventures, I realized there is no other place or community like Tahoe. When I moved home in 2012 it was like I hadn’t left. I immediately started working at the Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio. This is my home away from home and I am not alone in saying this. Being able to be apart of so many children’s life has been a true honor. Watching the kids grow and light up on stage makes all the hard work worth it. The studio allowed me to jump back in the community to do what I love.
Are you active in any volunteer roles or community groups?
As the coach of the South Tahoe High School Dance Team I spend many hours helping my student athletes building skills that will help them long after their time on the team. My favorite day of the year is Dance Team for a Day, children in the community K-8 are invited to be a part of the Dance team. This event has grown to over 75 kids and is a true favorite in the community.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
When I am not working, I am with my 2 girls, Ava and Emily, and my amazing husband. When I treat myself I get pedicures at Rah Beauty Bar!
Where are your favorite South Shore stomping grounds?
Having two young children we like to be outside. We are blessed to have Tahoe Paradise Park Minutes from our house. We love to camp at Nevada beach in the summertime. As a family, our favorite dinner treat is Off the Hook Sushi, even my 2 year old Ava loves it!
