The California Tahoe Conservancy is soliciting public input on how its nine Meyers-area “asset lands” could help improve the Meyers community.
Most Conservancy properties were acquired to prevent development on environmentally sensitive lands. “Asset lands” were acquired through other means, such as through legal settlements, high capability lands acquired to facilitate environmental projects, package acquisitions of both environmentally sensitive and developable lands, and other properties no longer suitable for their original acquisition purpose.
The Tahoe Chamber was actively involved in helping to shape and support the adoption of the Meyers Area Plan. We understand one of more of the Conservancy’s Meyers-area asset lands may help implement various elements of the Meyers Area Plan, such as affordable housing, mixed-use development, bike, pedestrian and transit circulation, recreational access, and environmental conservation goals. Conservancy staff will lead a tour of the nine parcels starting at 9:00 a.m., on Wednesday, August 21.
The public is invited to attend the tour, followed by a meeting of the Conservancy Board of Directors at approximately 11:00 a.m., at the California Tahoe Conservation Corps (CCC) auditorium, 1949 Apache Avenue.
