South Lake Tahoe, CA—Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) is deeply discounting the cost of fees on its upcoming whitewater rafting classes, making it possible for more residents to safely prepare for what’s promising to be an incredible rafting season in the Sierras.

Beginning Whitewater Rafting (WLD-140A, starts 4/10), Intermediate Whitewater Rafting (WLD-140B, starts 4/16) and LTCC’s Whitewater Guide School (WLD-140C, starts 3/26) all had material fee costs of $330 in the past. With the new discount, the fees for Beginning and Intermediate Whitewater are now just $20. For Whitewater Guide School, the material fee has been cut to $105.

“We realized these fees were a barrier for many of our students and community members,” said Wilderness Education & Outdoor Leadership faculty member Dr. Clinton Culp. “A big part of what we do at community colleges is provide access to learning to as many people as possible, so we’ve cut these fees and hope that more locals will be able to get great instruction and hit the water with as much safety knowledge as possible.”

These courses, offered by the Wilderness Education & Outdoor Leadership program at LTCC, provide in-depth, in-the-field and on-the-water learning that includes paddle and water rescue techniques, river reading skills, proper gear packing and preparation, and much more. All three will help students build their wilderness knowledge and lay the groundwork for a solid outdoor education. To register, visit www.ltcc.edu/admissions.
