If you happen to find yourself wondering what wine to order at the Bistro at Edgewood Tahoe, be sure to check in with its restaurant manager—Cari Schmitt.
Cari recently completed a four-day class in ampelography (the botanical study of identifying and classifying grapevines) at St. Supéry Winery in Napa Valley. The class involved learning from winemakers and ampelography experts, identifying grapevines in the fields, and making your own blend of wine. Cari hopes the course will help her better educate and guide people who come to the Bistro for a glass of wine.
You may also want to attend the restaurant on one of the South Shore’s most pristine grounds for its one-year anniversary. The Bistro will be hosting drink specials, live music and other events through June.

What business do you represent and how long have you been in business?
I work at Edgewood Tahoe. I manage the Bistro which is inside the Lodge at Edgewood. The Bistro serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. We will be celebrating our one-year anniversary on June 22nd!
Tell us more about what products and services your business offers. Is there anything people may not be aware you offer?
We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. We have a late-night menu offered at the Bistro Bar and Lounge until midnight. We have a beautiful patio where you can enjoy beverages while watching the sunset over Lake Tahoe.
Tell us about any current/upcoming events, promotions, or unique deals happening at your organization.
June will be a fun month! We just celebrated our 50th anniversary of the Edgewood Golf Course in May. We will be celebrating our one-year anniversary this month, so various drink specials and activities will be announced all month. We also will have live music on our patio featuring Milton Merlos. Dates and times will be announced on our website.
Why did you choose to join the Tahoe Chamber?
I wanted to be a part of this community and aware of its members. I have lived in Lake Tahoe since I was 15 years old and although I have tried to leave many times, I always found myself back in the community I call home. I wanted to get to know fellow community participants who work and enjoy this community. I also enjoyed participating in the Chamber events as a resident of South Lake and felt that I could benefit even more by being a part of the Chamber.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us to be featured in the Member Spotlight?
Summer is near, and I encourage outdoor activities as the day gets longer and warmer. Come down to the Bistro and enjoy a hand-crafted cocktail on our patio! You won’t regret it.
