Join us Friday, Jan. 11 to welcome Doob to the South Shore with a ribbon cutting with the Tahoe Chamber at 2 pm!

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Think of it as art, emotion and technology brought together to create a miniature replica of yourself and/or loved ones, and now it is available on the South Shore at Doob Lake Tahoe in the Heavenly Village.

A doob™ is a photo-realistic 3D printed replica that will celebrate life’s biggest and smallest moments, as well as everything in between.

Longtime local Tom Davis has partnered with John M. Coyle to open the doors of the newest franchise for the New York City based German company.

Davis said he’s been working about 2.5 years to bring Doob to the South Shore.

“I love gadgets,” said Davis in his reasoning for getting involved. He said he was watching Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation television show when he first saw the idea of the 3-D printed figurines. Davis said he waited two weeks after watching the show to see if his fascination waned at all, and since it hadn’t he looked into getting involved.

The company plans to delight families, friends, influencers, students, celebrities and athletes by offering high quality, realistic sculptures (aka Doobs) of people and pets. People can create Doobs at different periods of their lives or add loved ones along their journey.

A Grand Opening party will be held at their Heavenly Village location at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 but the doors are already open in the shop between Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Poe Rava Jewelry across from the movie theater (they share the space with an adventure booking company).

With locations in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, San Diego and
Kansas City, Chief Executive Officer Michael Anderson is enthusiastic about the new location.

“Doob will continue to expand to all parts of the country this year to bring what is truly a unique experience to the masses. We see Lake Tahoe as a perfect location – they are a community that celebrates life in one of the most beautiful regions in country,” he said.

The 3D technology company offers products that include 3D printed replicas, digital doobs, avatars for Virtual Reality and more.

“Technology and art can be merged to create something brand new for the community to be excited about, at the same time enriching the arts of the Lake Tahoe area,” said Davis said, partner and owner of Doob Lake Tahoe. “Our motto is live life
in 3D which is why we love being a part of someone’s wedding, baby announcement,
graduation, and other milestones of life.” Celebrating all the big and small moments can be one of the best experiences to have at Doob.

Those wanting to have a replica made step into a booth much like a space capsule where 66 cameras are set up to photograph the subject from every angle. The images are transferred to New York City where the 3-D printer is located and the process begins.

Doob Lake Tahoe is located at 1001 Heavenly Village Way #30A and is open daily 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will expand hours as business grows according to Davis.
