We want to send a special THANK YOU to Jason Rolfe and David Wise for their work in 3D printing, laser cutting, and distributing over 130 face shields to our local businesses through the Chamber and over 1,000 to Barton Health. We also want to highlight the generous donation from MOBO Law, LLP, which allowed the face shields to be distributed at no-cost to the businesses.

Jason Rolfe is an avid tinkerer and wanted to use his experience to help create PPE when the COVID-19 pandemic started. He was able to utilize his 3D printing and laser cutting equipment to help print and cut face shields, face masks, and mask extension bands for the South Lake Tahoe community. Jason is a professional geologist and aerial mapping scientist and loves working with gadgets and new technologies. He grew up in South Lake Tahoe and is glad to be back after an extended 15-year winter skiing and working in Wyoming.

David Wise was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe. After completing an ocean engineering degree from MIT and a stint designing underwater robots in the Bay Area, he returned to Tahoe for just one more ski season and hasn’t left yet. He, along with many others,  utilized a small army of 3D printers to create face shields and ear-saving extension straps for local hospitals and businesses. Currently, he works as a review editor for TechGearLab/OutdoorGearLab and is a Co-Director of the Tahoe STEM Camp through LTCC where he creates and teaches hands-on science and engineering programs for kids in the community.

Please join us in thanking these heroes who stepped up to help get out community open safely and sustainably!
