Tahoe Chamber is pleased to announce the launch of Women in Leadership, a premier local resource for women to participate in development programs, professional networking, and peer mentorship with a focus on career advancement. A new information webpage is available at tahoechamber.org/women-in-leadership.

Developing a women-focused professional program is needed now more than ever. Due to the pandemic, there has been a significant decrease in women workforce participation during the last eighteen months. In September, the women labor participation rate fell to 57.1%, a low which has not been seen since 1988, based on numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“The pressures of being a mom and being in the workforce are real,” said Brandi Brown, Creative Director of Tahoe Production House, and task force member of Women in Leadership. “Having that peer-to-peer professional network is invaluable in connecting with people who are in the same boat, who are experiencing the same pressures and thoughts. It makes you feel less alone. Maybe you get to meet someone who helps you become better.”

“We have lost so much valuable labor force in Tahoe. A specific leadership program is vital in helping women strengthen skills and seek opportunities,” said Andrea Drew, Owner and CPA of Drew Consulting Inc., and task force member of Women in Leadership. “This is about building relationships and empowering female professionals which ultimately lead to strengthening the local community and economy.”

Women in Leadership’s first event will be on November 3rd from 9:30 AM – 1 PM at Tahoe Beach Club and is open to all women in the region. The seminar will be led by Dr. Michelle D’Amico. She is a personal, professional, and leadership coach with a Doctorate in Psychology. Her whole-person approach is grounded in behavioral and psychological principles along with corporate experience and strong intuition.

Attendees will also receive exclusive access to a Facebook group with unlimited peer support and resource sharing. Event registrations are $55 for Chamber members and $80 general, with an opportunity to subscribe to all future events in the annum. There is a 10% discount for early bird registrations through October 20th. Registrations can be made at tahoechamber.org/women-in-leadership.

Tahoe Chamber thanks the following sponsors for helping bring Women in Leadership into fruition: Tahoe Beach Club, Drew Consulting, Inc., KR Squared Productions, and Courtney Aaron.
